Over three years on the annual plans, FEWD Studio comes to £239.97 and Etch Studio comes to $1,770. You don't need to convert the currency to see the gap.
The FEWD licence covers two devices and every update, and you can cancel any time.
Leaving
This is the part that matters more than the price. If you stop paying for FEWD, you still have this folder: the pages, the components, the styles and the git history. You can keep editing it in anything.
FEWD's own pitch is "No builder, no proprietary format, no lock-in", and so far this project bears that out. Nothing in it needs FEWD to build.
The catches
- It's a subscription if you want all of it. The free copy edits HTML, CSS and JavaScript with the live preview. Astro, the terminal, git and HTML export need a licence.
- Its visual mode works best on plain HTML. Astro files open in Framework Mode, as code, with styling still available from the preview.
- It's a small operation. The copyright line names one person, Chris Good, and the Agency plan is still "coming soon".
